Robber’s Straight Rye Whiskey
Barrel Strength
There’s an old saying,
“One man gathers what another man spills.”
Distillation Process
Years ago we caught wind that barrels of rye whiskey were being loaded onto a train to age somewhere unknown for reasons too painful to share. We couldn’t let that happen and set out to find that train and rescue as many barrels of rye whiskey as we could. We devised a disguise and waited for the right moment to make our move. We can’t tell you much more than that. There’s an old saying, “one man gathers what another man spills.”
Our Story
Shortly after we opened our doors, we had heard that Death’s Door Spirits in Middleton, WI was going to be selling their company or possibly closing down. Before that could happen, we purchased some barrels of whiskey from them in December 2018, hauled them over to La Crosse and put them to rest in our barrel barn. There were four different mash bills, one of which was a Maryland Rye. We are currently producing some Maryland rye whiskey ourselves to age, and we will also be sourcing some barrels from other producers as well.

Serve With
A barrel strength blend of barrels handpicked from the rickhouse to the bottle. Robber’s is a Maryland Rye with a high corn mash bill of 44% corn giving this whiskey a more fruit forward characteristic similar to that of a bourbon. The whiskey hits the palate with a typical rye spice but is quickly masked with dried cherry, slight vanilla, hint of tobacco and a slight nutty flavor. This whiskey benefits from sitting in the glass for a hot minute to release some great caramel and butterscotch notes. We strive to keep this blend as consistent as we can but each batch will release slight different characteristics as these barrels are still aging until the day we harvest. Sit back, relax and let this whiskey steal your heart away and leaving you waiting for the next pour.
